A reader commented on the key reason why game is effective (when run properly) and how easy it can be to merely mimic traits of others to convince them we are a certain way.

In our path of evolution, picking up on minor variances in facial expressions and body language was the main and most important factors in communication. As our survival of our tribes and individual self was so detrimental to this, our brains started processing these as an automatic response, to the point where most humans aren’t even consciously aware of the thought process behind this.
This of course is the whole reason why it’s possible to game someone, or even darker sided things like conning someone – it is because these tells, this primitive but evolutionary tested method of judging the motives, status and emotional and intellectual levels of another human are done subconsciously or with the observer un aware that they are basing their judgements off something which could be a lie, could be faked – actors do this to us all the time, which we’re okay with, because it’s a controlled fakery, we know they will be doing this and there is the whole non interacting with them thing.
But everyone does this acting or modifying their behavior every day, putting on a happy exterior, job interviewing, dating, etc. We all try and dictate what we want others to pick up on, because most of us know that others pick up on subconsciously that we are displaying – the connection isn’t always made that we are doing the same thing, and thus have the ability to seek more than just this rudimentary level of communication – that it is possible to over ride this.
Women will actually seek more sub communication then men will, all of it still not fully conscious, the girl does not really understand what she’s looking for when she asks you questions during a date, she and you may think she wants to know verbal facts about your life or out look, and sure that may interest her, but underneath there is another micro interplay going on. Congruency is all about this micro level. Your body language, verbal tone and level, comfort levels, confidence levels, power and trust worthiness, as well as sexual information from pheromones to passion inducing pangs are all being cross communicated at a micro level, rarely fully conceived of by the two involved. Oh sure we may pick up on one or two cues, but we miss most of them, and some people just don’t know about these at all consciously.
Because of this sub communication, it can be very easy for someone to learn how to effectively manipulate these cues and send them to a desired person and convince them that you are a sexy aloof jerk who would be hot in bed, or a host of other things of one were so inclined.
The subconscious plays a large role on our so-called conscious decisions, players understand this micro playing either through observation or instinctually. This is what game is essentially – sub communicating that you are someone a girl should be gaga over, by using the flavor of the month that current chicks dig. All animals try and communicate this way when seeking a mate, but humans have the capacity to fake it or forge it and wear a mask if alpha traits. Testing for congruency is the current only defense for girls against sheep in wolves clothing, this is why talking less is always more advantageous, as she keeps you displaying, the more chance for you to show cracks in your performance.
Many people can be fooled, the people who put no thought into this aspect of humanity, the mentally handicapped, the elderly are all most vulnerable – however children are remarkable about picking out bullshit from real shit. As the reader suggested, it is because some people just can’t tell the difference between an authentic alpha and a copycat. Nor does it concern them to, ignorance is after all, bliss.
Well, bliss until they do that middle item, where in an attempt to mimic masculine confidence they adopt behaviors that are simply annoying. Then they go on about how Confidynt Womyn get called bitches for no reason. Truth is, a man displaying those behaviors gets rightly called a jackass. Missed it, girls: try again.
I suppose that the article above also explains why “inner game” is so important: If you’re straight-up faking, you might grab the wrong cues, and few if any of the more subtle ones. Once you believe it, and your inner and outer views are congruent, the act is not only much more believable, it becomes less of an act all the time and more of what you really are. Preaching to the choir here, I know, not to mention summarizing the article itself, but I think it’s worth especially noting that it’s a way to make consistency of (sub-)message much easier. ‘Course, as our host indirectly pointed out, most women are not fully conscious of these messages, and often willfully ignorant of all such details. But that’s for a different post, I imagine.
